aEEG/CFM System

The aEEG/CFM System offers reliable, continuous monitoring of brain activity, empowering clinicians with valuable data for neonatal and pediatric care.

The ELMIKO aEEG/CFM System is an advanced tool for long-term monitoring of brain function, intended specifically for patients in intensive care units (ICUs), neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and neonatal pathology units. The module enables simultaneous recording of the raw EEG signal and the aEEG (amplitude-integrated EEG) trend curve, enabling real-time visualization of brain activity and rapid identification of neurological changes.

Application of the aEEG/CFM module

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs)
  • Neonatal pathology departments
  • Neonatology departments
  • Intensive care units (ICUs),
  • Neurology departments,
  • Rehabilitation centers and centres
  • Academic and research centers

Indications for diagnosis using ELMIKO aEEG/CFM System

The aEEG/CFM module is used in diagnosis and monitoring:

  • Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy – monitoring brain health in cases of hypoxia and ischemia to optimize treatment
  • ConvulsionConvulsion – detection and monitoring of convulsive activity, enabling rapid intervention and assessment of the effectiveness of anti-vulsion therapy
  • Therapeutic Hypothermia – Tracking the Brain’s Response to Reduced Body Temperature Used to Treat Neurological Injuries and Conditions
  • Sepsis – Assessment of the impact of sepsis on patients’ brain function
  • Cardiopulmonary Failure – Monitoring the critically ill brain in patients with cardiorespiratory disorders
  • Neuroinfections – Tracking the impact of neurological infections, e.g. meningitis, on the patient’s condition
  • Metabolic Disorders – Observation of the brain’s condition in cases of metabolic disorders that may affect its functioning
  • Hydrocephalus – Control of the effect of increased intracranial pressure and fluid accumulation on brain function
  • Pharmacotherapy – Assessment of the brain’s response to pharmacological treatment, enabling adjustment of doses and therapeutic strategy

AEEG/CFM Module Functionalities

  • Long-term Monitoring – The module enables long-term recording of EEG and aEEG with simultaneous monitoring of physiological parameters such as SpO₂ and ECG, allowing a comprehensive assessment of brain function in the context of the patient’s overall condition.
  • Customizing Notifications – Notifications inform users when biological parameters such as saturation, heart rate, or amplitude exceed predefined limits, increasing patient safety during long-term monitoring.
  • Displaying SpO₂ and rSO₂ Values on a Single CFM – The trend chart enables a more accurate understanding of the relationship between respiratory status and brain function.
  • Continuous Impedance Indicator – Impedance values are displayed continuously throughout the test. Color indicators signal electrode contact quality, while impedance alarms notify users when limits are exceeded.
  • Detection of EEG Signal Fragments Suggestive of Neonatal Seizures – Integrated CFM and EEG signals help detect epileptic episodes that may be missed in the standard clinical picture.

Standard ELMIKO aEEG/CFM Equipment

Our offer includes three types of heads:

  • 2- or 4-channel Heads – Offer only EEG channels and are intended for standard monitoring and analysis of brain activity.
  • 3- or 5-channel Heads – Include an additional channel for the SpO₂ pulse oximeter, enabling simultaneous monitoring of oxygen saturation and EEG signals for a more comprehensive assessment of the patient’s condition.
  • 32-channel Head – Enables aEEG/CFM examinations and, when abnormalities are detected, supports the performance of a full conventional EEG examination.
In addition, the standard kit includes:
  • One type of head from the options listed above
  • High-end AiO computer or laptop (Intel Core i5, 1TB SSD, 8GB RAM, 2GB NVIDIA)
  • ELMIKO aEEG/CFM Software
  • Professional Medical Trolley
  • Accessory Set, including electrodes and adhesive-conductive paste

ELMIKO aEEG/CFM Module Expansion Capabilities

The aEEG/CFM module can be expanded with additional modules and channels to meet the specific requirements of healthcare facilities.

  • Video-EEG Module (VEEG) – Integrates aEEG/CFM examinations with video recording, enabling simultaneous analysis of brain bioelectrical activity and clinical observations for enhanced diagnostic accuracy.
  • Automated Analyses (TPM, DSA, CSA, BSI, and Others) – Supports clinicians in interpreting results by facilitating segmentation and identification of characteristic patterns.
  • Remote Study Annotation – Allows specialists to review and annotate EEG recordings remotely, making it especially valuable for telemedicine applications.
  • Print Queue – Optimizes the documentation process and ensures efficient report management and printing.
